13 Steps to Clean A Spyder Compact Paintball Gun
Step # 01: First of all, you need to remove the air tank from your gun just to ensure that there is no air inside the gun while you work on it. Plus, you also need to ensure that there is no paint inside the gun either. Both of these would hinder your cleaning process.
Step # 02: After that, you should remove the barrel so that you can clean up the gun with ease. You may also prefer to keep the barrel on but that will make it harder for you to clean the insides of the gun.
Step # 03: Then, you need to remove the firing pin bolt at the top of your gun. For that, simply pull the pin up slightly with your fingers and pull it out from the back of the gun. Remember, this pin has a spring tension which prevents you from pulling the pin straight out. That is why you will have to pull it up first to release the spring tension.
Step # 04: After that, you need to unscrew the Velocity adjuster screw at the bud of the gun. For that, simply twist the knob with your fingers. However, if it does not budge, it means that the grip frame screw is holding it back. So, you will have to unscrew that first to loosen the velocity adjuster screw.
Step # 05: Then, take your Allen key and carefully take out the bumper from the hollow created inside the gun from where you unscrewed the velocity adjuster screw. And slide the hammer out as well with the help of the same Allen key.
Step # 06: Now, take your barrel swab and push it right through both the top hole you just emptied. Once the swab is inside, give it a few twists so that the bristles can pick up all the dust and debris from the inside before you pull the barrel swab out.
Step # 07: Repeat Step # 06 on the bottom tube as well.

Step # 08: Now, take the rag and wipe all the pieces you took out from the inside of the gun in steps # 02, 3, 4, and 5.
Step # 09: Once you are done with that, take your paintball gun oil and apply a few drops to the hammer O-ring. However, if your gun is very old, you might as well replace the hammer O-ring with a new one. Also, apply a few drops of paintball gun oil to the firing pin bolt.
Step # 10: Now, take the hammer and shove it inside the upper tube of the paintball gun. Make sure that its hole is facing upward and that you are pulling the trigger while shoving the hammer inside the tube otherwise, the hammer will get stuck.
Step # 11: Then, take your fire pin bolt and shove it inside the upper tube right where you pushed the hammer. After that, put all the other pieces back where you pulled them out of. Then, screw the velocity adjuster screw to seal the whole thing shut.
Step # 12: Now, take your three-millimeter Allen key and tighten up the frame screws.
Step # 13: Finally, replace the barrel and you are good to go!
FAQs
How often should you clean your paintball gun?
If you want to know how often you must clean up your Spyder paintball gun then I must tell you that it all depends upon the performance of your gun and the duration of your playtime. If you play very often and you can feel your gun slowing down then, you must clean your gun every two weeks. If that is too much for you, then clean your paintball gun at least once a month to ensure optimal performance.
Final Thoughts
So, this was all from my side. I hope you were able to follow all the steps in the way I mentioned them. However, if you are having difficulty reassembling the paintball gun, don’t panic. Just take a deep breath and unscrew the whole thing and give it another try. The only way to know that you have reassembled the gun properly is by pulling the fire pin. If you can feel the spring tension, it means that everything is sealed properly and your gun is all cleaned up and ready to roll!
